Just make sure you have a sledgehammer handy!

This kit and slide hammer kit saved the day. I bought a bearing, nut, lock ring and hub kit. When my punch couldn't get any stronger, I added leverage with a pry bar. When that made me nervous about stripping the threads on the tool (and heck, this set has the biggest screw you can fit through), I gave in to the sledgehammer. I dropped the ball joint and transferred everything onto some pallets I just had laying around. I hit it with a sledgehammer (make sure you hit the right spot and use aโ€ฆ

Does the job! for puller

I used this spindle press to carry out the work to install the wheel hub and bearing on the Optima 2012. To remove the bearing I had to take a 3 foot pipe to attach to the end of my 32mm wrench. He fought but didn't stand a chance against this tool! I will say before assembling the tool, take new parts and choose the right size, the instruction was wrong for me. *** Tip *** If the bearing goes crooked and crooked, you have the wrong attachment. I accidentally went down a size which resulted inโ€ฆ

I bought this kit to replace the front bearings on my 2008 Honda Civic. The kit worked flawlessly with my 1000 lbf ft air impact wrench. There are a few out of date instructions in the kit but they still pretty much fit my car. If you understand what's really happening when you use this kit, you don't need instructions anyway. The bolt was very strong and showed no signs of damage from my bearings. I lubricated the bolt as recommended which helps protect it from damage from the high torque itโ€ฆ

How you can make 78825 even better

The Astro 78825 hub bearing tool is really worth owning and using. A class 8 screw is fine, but Astro should use fine threads instead of the coarse threads they use. A fine thread will apply and hold more force when turning than a coarse thread. No big deal, the tool still works pretty damn well. Here's how I made it even better: 1. Apply a lubricant or anti-seize containing molybdenum disulfide to these coarse threads. This is a material that lubricates very well under extreme pressure andโ€ฆ

I see the benefit of thinner threads, but durability can be a sacrifice.

I bought this kit because of the industrial strength screw at the base of the kit. Unfortunately, where I live, the front wheel bearings on our Toyota only last about 3 years, and usually on the driver's side, due to the salt used on the roads. The bolt bent badly as I had to use a lot of leverage to get the bearing out. It's probably still usable, but not easy anymore. However, the work has been COMPLETED and the new bearing is working well. I need to do my wife's front wheel bearing on theโ€ฆ

Great tool for working with front bearings!

If you are looking to replace the pressed bearings on the front hubs of many vehicles, you will need this tool. I guess I could find a hydraulic press shop and pay them to remove my old bearings and then press in new ones. However, I love making things myself. So I decided to buy this set. I did a lot of research and found that this is the only kit that has a high strength 7/8" drive bolt. All other kits I've seen have 3/4" drive bolts. I have just completed my front bearing replacement usingโ€ฆ

Good price for bearing puller

Has everything you would expect except for a 7/8" screw (wrench size 1 and 5/16"). This bolt is larger than most kits in this general price range (they are otherwise almost identical in the photos) and I applaud the people who managed to bend it in their reviews. 7/8 bolts have almost 40% more tensile strength than 3/4 bolts of the same brand and I'm sure you would only be more frustrated trying to turn a 3/4 bolt with a slightly cheaper kit. If your bearing is having trouble coming out, tryโ€ฆ

Seriously hard to get the job done

Needed to make a front wheel bearing on my car, I think the other wouldn't be too far behind so getting the tool made sense. Local parts stores have a renter, but this kit has more options and a stronger screw than another store that would require a $250 deposit to get started. If you watch videos of using kits like this, most of the time the bolt requires a 27mm head, this requires 32mm and it's a big strong bolt. I made sure to grease the threads and put some lube between the two washers toโ€ฆ

My new FAVORITE TOOL!

Watch a YouTube video of the guys pressing bearings for a 2005 Toyota Highlander. A couple of dudes - wimps, put up an ad and put a cart on a 20-ton press. DO NOT USE THE FLASH RIFLE! First, the speed and "impact" effect are NOT CORRECT for the type of torque required to make this tool work properly. I'm an engineer so I already knew it was WRONG to use guns before I even read a review of idiots doing what the instructions DID NOT do! mechanical workshop! But don't freak out! Continue to turnโ€ฆ
