I have not used reverse osmosis water and now 8 months later it needs repair #2 and 3. I had one built in the filter. like that used for ice machines. It wasn't enough to stop the build up that destroys the fog heads after 3-4 months of use. Replacement heads cost about $150. I added a 1 micron filter. Still not enough. The fog heads still work, but one of the fan wires has come loose, likely due to limescale corrosion, which still permeates. This led to an air backlog, so that now not only the fan fails, but also the hygrostat. I could probably insist on a guarantee, but I feel responsible for his death. If it works, great! Just use tap water and clean monthly.
