Review on 🐢 Waterproof Reflective Dog Raincoat - Tellpet Dog Jacket for All-Weather Protection by Cassie Turner

Nice jacket but the size doesn't fit.

I was looking for a cheap jacket that I can easily wear to potty train my dog in the rain (we live in an apartment) so it doesn't get wet , and something that was easy to put on to keep him dry getting in and out of the car when he comes to work with me. This guy does his job. I have a normal Australian Shepherd. He weighs 52-55 pounds depending on the day. His measurements are 15" neck, 28" girth, 24" waist, 25-26" length. He has very odd proportions and it's always difficult to find a jacket. True to his breed, he is longer than he is tall and very thin. So it is difficult to find something that matches the length of his body, but at the same time his body would not drown. We have a rainproof jacket very similar to this one except it can shorten the back length and is a step up in the jacket which takes longer to put on but offers better protection than Tellpet in my opinion. After reading some other reviews I settled on an XXL with chest/girth measurements of 31.5-37.5 and a back length of 22 inches. My boy usually wears medium in most things. The remaining length is about 3 inches to the left of my dog's back, but that's not a big deal since most of it is covered. The belt at his waist is well tightened and long enough to be lengthened if needed, but it's definitely smaller than advertised. Overall it fits him very well but not as well as our regular jacket. I was originally looking for a different Hartt (Monsoon) jacket but couldn't justify paying another $80 for a jacket he wouldn't wear all the time so thought this would be a great alternative. It is very similar to the Hurtta Monsoon except for the adjustable back length. The material is very thin and is similar to my north side windbreaker. We're fine as my boys are double coated and warm anyway. It's reflective and the strap hole has latches to keep the rain out. I ordered green and it's more of an olive khaki. The wind straps underneath are adjustable, which is a nice touch. I love that it has two adjustable neck panels, the last of which is a rain gaiter. It feels like a comfortable jacket as my dog doesn't seem to mind. I can't comment on his water work as Oregon hasn't had a watercourse for the past few days. It was drizzling and foggy and he stayed dry on his back and sides, but his belly fur was damp, but that's to be expected in a jacket that's no slouch higher. 1/4 the price and much better coverage than Ruffwear. I'm curious how it holds up when hiking and a real walk in the rain.

Pros
  • Build quality
Cons
  • Good overall, but...
