I was skeptical about this microfiber towel. After I received it and showed it to my fellow travelers, they made fun of me for buying a blanket instead of a towel, but when they carried big and heavy ordinary towels and I had this compact and light towel, they were all a bit little jealous. Not only was the towel lightweight, even when soaked to the skin, I was able to easily roll it up to put back in my beach bag. In fact, I could probably take a smaller bag just because of that towel. The design corresponded exactly to the picture and could be seen from afar on the beach and at the pool. The fabric looks good and there have been no noticeable changes to it. The fabric is soft but not plush like a regular towel. He wasn't prickly or anything. I replaced the large towel as I'm a short person (5ft 1in) so it was big enough for me. I would recommend the large size for kids and petite adults and the extra large size for taller or overweight individuals. As for the water retaining towel, I think it soaked up water pretty well when drying off or wrapping the towel around me. It doesn't magically absorb water from your bathing suit, but it does absorb and hold just as much water (maybe more) than a regular beach towel. I was pleasantly surprised at how water retaining it is considering it appears so thin. The towel was almost dry the night I hung it up, drying quicker than my companions, at least when still slightly damp from a late night by the pool. Overall I was very happy with this purchase and would recommend this towel to anyone who is traveling and wants to get rid of heavy regular towels. This towel has held up after a week of use at the beaches/cruise pool.
