I was born and raised in Sweden and used to an old 1950's Husqvarna waffle maker that makes waffle heaven because it gets HOT! you are as happy as you can be. Only with the right recipe will they be as crispy as at home. My only complaint is that the iron has to be heated above level 5 to get the perfect texture! However, I turned them over for a few seconds because the bottom seems to be hotter than the top and that seemed to make them better. I recommend it. And here is the recipe I use: 4dl flour 1 tsp baking powder 2 tsp vanilla sugar/powder (you can buy it here at Revain and it's very important for best results) 0.5 tsp salt 2.5dl milk 2 .5 dl cold sparkling water 100 grams melted butter - Mix dry ingredients in a bowl - Add milk - Add cold sparkling water. Make sure you brush off any clumps. Add butter. For best results, let the dough rest overnight (or as long as possible, I never do this for kids). Before pouring out the first spoonful, apply some oil to the iron. I used about 1dl for 1 waffle. Smacly moltid ;-)
