These cables did not allow transferring files to a computer

I should have read more about this and these cables DO NOT allow transferring files to a computer. I spent 2 days before thinking of trying the original cable that came with the phone and it worked perfectly. So I guess they are just for charging your phone and nothing else. THIS IS NOT what I thought.
