This amazing product costs $9; especially when paired with a $25 smart switch or smart plug. I've had an air conditioner on 220V since time immemorial. I turned off the circuit breaker. I Cut the 220V cable next to the switch box down to the white cable. 4 wires in one string; red, black, white and green. I just put a contactor between the 220V line breaks. Connect the black wire to the silver screw and tighten or use the female wire, connect and plug into the brass connector of the contactor socket. Repeat on the other side of the contactor with the other black wire. Then do the same with the red wire. Just make sure the red and black wires connect to the same screw or tab on the other side of the contactor. When that's done, take a standard three prong extension cord and cut off the female end. The best advice is to buy wire terminals with sockets and crimp them to the ends of the black and white wires on the extension you just cut. Now take the white socket and connect it to the silver wire on the contactor. Repeat the same with the black wire bushing and place it on the other silver tab. It may be 4 silver petals but 2 are connected on each side. Once this is complete, twist all three green/ground wires together. You have to be ready to go. Now take the good male end of the extension cord and plug it into a Zwave smart outlet and you have an old-school 220V smart air conditioner for about $35.
