I'm writing this review because I couldn't find a clear answer in all those other reviews. Namely, I can mount two 27" monitors, but one vertically with no gap between the monitors themselves and without leaving too much desk space. The short answer is yes, you can. The mount feels very solid and my only complaint I would have about the installation is that you probably want to be prepared to tighten areas where they appear pre-tightened - Tightened for you but not well enough, to calm down. For reference in the pictures, my desk is about 2.5 inches from the back wall. The average monitor is about 5.5 inches from my desk, or 8 inches from the wall. The vertical monitor is also the same distance where they touch, but about 14 inches from the wall to the side that folds inward to the table. Most likely your monitor mount will take up that's about 6 inches if you're sitting on a desk. So if you have some distance between your back desk and the wall, you can essentially levitate the monitor in the same area. That's about as far as I could get these monitors touchable, so if you're looking for something that can actually stand up against a wall in that sort of configuration I think it's unlikely. All things considered, I'd say the purchase was worth it. Freedom of movement means that the monitor should be at least slightly above the table
