I thought it was one of those 50/50 deals that roll the dice. $43 for an LED organ is a good deal. I bought two thinking quality control would be an issue at such a low price. I was right. A package was ok. Good easy chasing patterns with and without music. The second seemed to work fine too. I ran them all night to make sure they didn't burn out and they passed with flying colours. My mistake was testing them while they were still in the box. When I flipped open the second, the light pattern was broken. After a few meters, the LEDs would either go out or glow differently from the rest of the LEDs. I looked at the connection and noticed that the GND solder looks cracked. I'm sure it will make contact as you roll it up, but once you line it up the soldering will open up and you'll lose all the LEDs after that point. Update: Sanwo customer service contacted me. After some discussion about the authenticity of my LED strips, they finally sent me a new one. I was in a hurry so I've already bought new ones through Amazon and sent them back. One had a power issue that dimmed the lights and the other had an adhesive strip on the back so it couldn't lay flat. Just order more and send back the broken ones to save time. Eventually I got enough working strips to use as Christmas lights as planned. I easily connected the 16 foot strips together to get a nice 32 foot row of lights. You can easily see the lights from the street. Here are some tips from my experience. Soldering it together is pretty easy. Lots of videos about it. To restore weatherproofing I tried hot glue and electric silicone. Both managed to survive a downpour. I also used a layer of tape and shrink tubing around the joint to reduce stains on the solder joints and glue. Use plastic mounts. I've tried using zip ties so I can hold the strips in place for hanging from a long distance. The screed has crushed the power rails inside the LED strip. He disabled the entire strip until I cut out the damaged parts and re-soldered the work areas. They fit me well https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L7E4LMK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1- The power supply and controller are not waterproof. Tried to make an extension cord to the LED strip. The point at which the controller could be safe from the rain was 30 feet. It turns out that the electronic controller is not able to transmit a control signal over such a distance. I've even tried thick 12 gauge wire to no avail. The lights turn on but do not create any patterns. The line resistance is too high. I had to mount the power supply and controller right where the LED strip started. I put them in a plastic bag under the canopy to protect them from the rain. As long as it lasts If you don't shy away from a little electronic work, you can get a lot out of these things.
