Fast and high quality scanning but with tedious setup. Document jams slow you down

This is a review of the Epson WorkForce ES-300W Wireless Duplex Color Scanner. I treat this Epson scanner with love and hate. . The idea of having a battery powered, relatively portable scanner that scans quickly and with high quality is very appealing. What is most frustrating about the scanner is the difficult initial setup and the frequent document jams I get, especially when trying to scan business cards that are far from perfect condition. I may not be the most tech-savvy person on the planet, but I'm also not a complete idiot. Setting up this scanner on my network has caused me all sorts of frustrations. You have several options when deciding how to use this wirelessly. It can be a bit confusing to understand the options. My biggest piece of advice is to take your time, read the documentation carefully before you start, and then cross your fingers and get started. Another tip: make sure you are connected to the same network that the printer was originally connected to when you set it up for the first time, otherwise the Epson Scan software will not be able to connect. In my case I have 4 potential networks to connect to. 2 guest networks, 5G network and 2.4G network. The scanner itself weighs 2 pounds 12 ounces and yes, it's portable, but it doesn't necessarily have the sturdiest build quality. Be especially careful with the paper guide levers and paper edge guides. These two parts strike me as very fragile and can easily crack or break if not handled with great care. The scanner is ready for use. The software offers many options when scanning. You have the option to scan in png, jpg, pdf and tiff formats. You can adjust the resolution and customize scans in other ways. The OCR software is pretty typical of other OCR programs I've used. This works to a certain extent, but if your original document isn't perfect and doesn't have a very simple layout, you'll have to make a lot of adjustments later. I was very impressed with the scanning speed in standard mode. The piece of paper went through the scanner so fast I thought something had gone wrong and he just threw the paper away. But to my surprise, he scanned so quickly. The higher quality modes take longer to scan, but still very fast in my opinion. Business card scanning is fast too, and the fact that this is a duplex scanner in such a small body is quite remarkable. I was also surprised at how well it scanned registration receipts. Even those ridiculously long receipts (up to 44 inches) can be scanned. I have mixed feelings about this scanner. It may be better for some people than others. I'm happier with that than someone who just scans a few things in one sitting. I say this because you can get into a rhythm with the automatic document feeder and be very efficient. But when you have document feed errors, your workflow slows down to a scan, turning your scanner off, turning it back on, waiting for it to reconnect to the network, and then restarting your software all takes a while. The scan quality is very good and you can adjust the resolution as you like. There are limits to what you can pass through the scanner. However, this is not a photo scanner and it is not recommended to run photos through the scanner. Here is a list of things not to scan: • Photographs • Thermal paper • Coated paper • Glossy originals • Cloth or other non-paper originals • Originals with an uneven surface such as B. Embossed documents • Originals with staples or paper clips • Originals with copy paper on the back • Originals with wet ink • Bound originals • Originals with labels, stickers, or stickers • Torn, curled, or wrinkled originals • Originals with holes other than standard punched originals • Transparencies • Paper without carbon paper• Punched original Epson Scan starts quite slowly on my MacBook Pro. I like the quality and speed of scanning. I don't like the difficult installation and fragility of the paper guides and lid.
