Review on 18 Ounce Pink Thermos Intak Hydration Bottle by Jay Buford

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best drinking bottle for everyday use. Well it used to be

I'm looking at all the variations of this thermos including the one I bought over 2 years ago (pink), the one I bought 1 year ago (green) and the I Bought This Week (purple). The first two iterations were absolutely perfect (currently available in pink and green on this site). They were waterproof. The combination of hard plastic and fold-down straw made it the perfect non-sports water bottle that I could use in the office, at home, and just about anywhere. I like the straw because I can casually sip water without unscrewing the cap and squirting in my mouth like I'm living in a Gatorade commercial. The straw is also easy to open with a thumb or finger, so you only need to use one hand. Also, I have NEVER experienced that kind of splash through the vent as other reviewers have commented. My SO and I have both used these water bottles (old versions) for 2-3 years, probably drank TEN THOUSANDS of water with them, and that's happened to us exactly zero times with the old style. Now for the latest version of this water bottle (currently available in blue and purple on this site). This REALLY gives me spatter problems! This happens when a cold drink becomes warm when the spout is closed and when you try to open it, the expanded warm air causes the water to slosh out of the spout. It will also happen on the plane. Beware! They also turned the hinge into this idiotic solid hinge that sticks out ridiculously far from the bottle and is very unwieldy. I can't think of a universe where a solid swoop loop would be useful. They turned it into a strange clogged hole that whistles when you drink. Even changing the venting no longer snaps the sipper. It just sits there when you fold it, making me wary of how waterproof it would be if I carried it in my backpack. The bottle is also very short and squat compared to older versions, so I can't even replace the icky cap with one of my old ones if I want to change the colour. I would give the older versions 5 stars. I'm still trying to use the new one, but it gets 3 stars. For this reason I have averaged this rating to 4. If you can do this I would recommend picking one of the older versions without the swoop cycle. This is a very durable water bottle and you won't regret it. Be careful with the new version.
