So I decided to upgrade my old computer and getting this RAM is just the first step to that. I made sure the Kingston Ram timings/voltage and frequency were EXACTLY the same as the 4 gig I already had installed on my old HP Pavilion. I was a little concerned because A. This is an old computer. B. This is an old computer from Walmart and C. The ram I ordered was much smaller (narrower) than the ram I already have, but I'll get to that in a moment. So basically I only had 4GB of RAM on my computer, which really isn't enough. I plan to upgrade it to 16GB soon, but 8GB would be a nice improvement for now. The Kingston DDR3 RAM was much narrower than my old stick. I'd say it's only about an inch or an inch and a half thick, about 2-3 times thinner than the one I installed. However, installing it in the right place was a problem. Normally when you mount the stem you tighten the clamps on both sides and push the stem in until the clamps engage, but this thing was too narrow for that. It took me a while to slide it in and when I finally pushed it all the way in the clips were still all the way out so I had to manually close them with my fingers. I've never had to do this with Ram. They've always found their place for me, so I wasn't sure if he'd even read the new Ram. I finally booted up my computer and got a splash screen, which is a very good sign. Typically when your computer is not reading Ram, you will either get a blank black screen or a blank blue screen and your computer will not boot. Now all I had to do was check and make sure the RAM was read correctly so I checked and voila, now it's reading 8GB RAM :D Since I made sure it was the same frequency, MHz, time etc etc. is, both sets of ram run at the same speed, so one stick doesn't throttle the speed of the other or anything like that. Except for the tightness, which didn't really matter, it worked out perfectly in the end and I WILL buy two more poles exactly the same. I'd rather not mix and match the ram on my PC and since my original is also a Kingston I figured I'd just do all four Kingstons at some point. I immediately noticed an improvement in my computer's boot up speed. Pages load a little faster, my loading speed has improved and everything runs a little smoother. 4GB really isn't enough for Windows let alone gaming and anything else I want to do so 8GB is a very good start. I can't wait to have two more of these bad guys on my computer. In general I am very satisfied. Shipping was fast as always (Prime 2 Day Shipping) and I just hope my new CPU upgrade works as well as my Ram upgrade. There's a reason Kingston is such a big name when it comes to Ram, and you really can't go wrong with one of these if you do your homework and make sure your PC is compatible. Very happy with my purchase hence 5 stars. The narrowness does not detract from my satisfaction with this product. It worked as advertised and that's important to me.
