Our air conditioning was broken. The technician who came to fix it said that using metal mesh filters puts a lot of strain on the unit. We could hear a loud bang every time the AC was turned off as the metal filter was put back in place. We spent about $50 on a metal filter thinking we would save dollars since it can be washed. However, Flanders filters that fit perfectly work best. We change them monthly. When we take them out, a lot of dust has accumulated on the filter, which means that it works. We are very happy with it and the price is great. We bought a box.
