Great upgrade from typical plastic marble racing toys

My 8 year old daughter loved playing with an old plastic marble toy we bought from Toys 'R Us years before she was born and when I did Gravitrax thought it seemed such a logical upgrade to their old favourite. The combinations you can create are almost endless, and the extras (a bit overpriced at times, but there are no unbranded compatible versions) like the "lifter" and magnetic launcher really work as long as you follow the instructions. My only criticism of the toy is that the configurations are a bit advanced for a small child because you have those hexagonal building tiles and only certain lengths of ramps to go between them. As a result, removal can be a little frustrating for younger folks, but if you follow some assembly guidelines (there's a decent printed version in the starter kit), designing is easy enough. A real thing that absolutely makes this awesome toy an app to be used alongside a physical toy. Not only can you see some of the manufacturer's pre-made suggestions (a few more than in the printed kit book), but you can build pretty much anything in the virtual world *and* run a ball through it to see if it works . My daughter almost had more fun building them in the app than in reality, but sometimes she surprises us and we find a huge setup that she built all over the house. The price might seem high for what you're getting, but when you factor the (free!) app into your overall product review, it seems like a steal.

Cons
