I bought this timer to replace an old sunbeam timer that is no longer working properly. Finding a new product to replace the old one that you like and are used to is always an adjustment. I love that you can toggle the sound here, but the first option is too loud and the second is too quiet. I chose the second and found that when I turn it off, it takes me a second to turn it on when the TV or music is on. My old one had a very distinct sound and a perfect decibel. My old one also had 10 and 5 minute alerts which seemed to be limited to sunray products only. I really liked this feature and really miss it. However, none of the above removed this 1 star from my rating. I've had the product for about a month so far and still need to get used to how it counts down after the time has elapsed. With my old one, even if I was in the kitchen or could walk right into the kitchen when he started chirping, I would still let him finish his tiny chirping on his own. I did something without thinking about it. And when it was done it went back to the set time and just stayed there until I deleted it. From there he starts counting. I can't tell you how many times I've had to look at him and find him counting the HOURS. I think this is a useful feature in case you are going out etc., miss a call and need to know how long it has been. But there should be a reasonable stopping point, say 20 minutes. Or at least beep every 10 minutes or so to let you know it's still running. The way it works now seems pointless and a way to just gobble up the battery. I've been looking for timers for so long and even had to return another brand, so in the face of this problem I put up with it. Although this is no small problem. It really worries me. I love the flashing red light that goes with the beep and the dual timer feature is really handy. I've used this a number of times. Also the magnet is quite strong and the device is symmetrical. It's weird to turn it on at all, but on another product I returned, the back of the device protruded so much that you couldn't press the buttons with one hand. This would push the entire device to one side. So you had to either push very lightly or hold with one hand and push with the other. There are no problems with this. So at least it makes sense.
