Review on GazeRecorder by Ross Sugden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

There was a lot of documentation to go through before starting the project.

A big part of my experience was that I wasn't provided with any information about how to use GazeRecorder, or what data could be extracted from the recorded videos. Even when I asked them about this, I didn't get a straight answer. I think that a lot of companies would benefit from making sure their clients understand how to use the software before signing up. The video tutorials were pretty good. They explained how to navigate the site and gave examples of how to record a video, what to expect after recording, etc. But the tutorial videos themselves seemed to be rather rushed and they didn't seem to cover every feature. The only thing I had trouble understanding was why there was no way to upload images other than importing a file directly from the camera. This made sense to me once I found out how to download pictures, but until then, I didn't realize that it was possible to add an image in the "before" portion of the video. I did end up having to use this method for adding a picture, because it was the only option available to me.

Pros
  • If you aren't willing to pay for it, you still have access to most of the content.
  • I would recommend these to someone who wants to get started with the software.
  • You can export your data to a.csv file, so you don't need to rely on a database as a back-end to store your information.
Cons
  • No support team
  • Most of the time, when I went to click on something to find out how to do it, it would tell me that I couldn't do it yet
