Review on Saucony Zealot Black Silver Men's Running Shoes: Lightweight and Athletic by Rick Alexander

How many new "max " shoes

I was a big fan of Kinvara and Cortanas. When this shoe replaced Cortana, I had to try it. I just ran my second full marathon in these shoes. The biggest differences between this and Cortana are: Material: The mesh used feels much more durable than previous generations. This is very important as Cortanas and Kinvaras have always felt like tearing the mesh around my fingers. Weight: This shoe is significantly lighter. Sole: Like many of the new "maximalist" shoes, this model has a little more foam underfoot, especially around the arch. I feel like there is real midfoot strike and a firmer feel when descending hills. Tongue: That's probably the biggest difference. The tongue wraps around the inner lining of the shoe for a more secure fit. It's semi-attached on both sides (unlike the "burrito" tongues which are only on one side. It feels a bit "bulky" at first, but I quickly got used to it. It has those too Visibly minimizes lace sores on top of foot on very long runs If you like the Cortana, you'll like the Kinvara (but need more cushioning) or a very fast "maximum" shoe (high cushioning with a low drop of 4mm) would like to try one that doesn't weigh you down - I highly recommend the Zealot I've also heard that new colors are coming this summer (black, lemon yellow etc).

Pros
  • Nice to use
