A little oil to keep the chopper blades sharp

I've had a lot of choppers in my time but can't say I've ever bought oil for any of them. My current shredder (microcutter) had very detailed recommendations for lubricating the blades, so I decided to use some shredder oil. After prolonged use, my shredder started to "stick" to the paper a bit, so I ran some of this oil on the shredder for a cycle or two and found that it helped shred the paper, but also eliminated that. "crunching" noises I like can only assume teeth grinding together. On an online blog I read it says that shredding oil, which is recommended for this use instead of "frying oil" (not sure why people would use vegetable oil but it was detailed on the blog) could add years to the life of your grinder to come and all for a very low and cheap price All in all if you are looking into a decent grinder for your home or office, you should definitely consider getting some grinder oil and applying it at least once a month (if you use your grinder a lot) to keep the blades and interior lubricated at peak performance.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • It's ok
