Review on Panasonic SL MP80 CD MP3 Player by Drew Poulin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great choice

This CD/MP3 player is a great choice for those who want to take a wide range of music with them without being weighed down by stacks of bulky CDs. An MP3 CD can hold eight or nine hours of music, even at my preferred high bit rate. Theoretically, I could fit my entire music library - more than a hundred albums - onto ten MP3 CDs and put them in a CD case. The sound quality is excellent, top notch for a portable CD player. The headphones that come with the SL-MP80 aren't exceptional, but they're adequate, although audiophiles will likely want to use their own lightweight headphones to really get the full power. Durability is another nice point. I am currently at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Heat and dust make this tour a tough test for the electronics, but this tour proved a champion. You have to be particularly rough with it, as I like to take my music to sports, but so far I haven't even scratched the case. The only complaint I have is minor: the SL-MP80 doesn't read v2 ID3 tags. ! The old ID3 format is supported, but the new extended format is not. The v2 standard is hardly new and I don't see a good reason to rule it out, but for some reason this block just doesn't support them. However, it reads ID3 v1 tags, as well as MP3 files with v1 and v2 tags. All in all, I can't offer a better portable CD/MP3 player.
