Review on πŸ’¨ NETGEAR CM600 Cable Modem: Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox Compatible, Up to 400 Mbps Speeds, DOCSIS 3.0, 24x8 Channel Bonding by Andrew Dickens

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great modem but very hot

This modem was purchased on Black Friday. Before I start, my short list of credentials is: I work from home (so that's very useful) and in IT security. That being said, I was fed up with Comcast limiting my speeds at certain times of the day and night, so I bought this modem to try and bypass them all together. I pay 105 and definitely didn't get it. Now my modem and router are on the 3rd floor and I work on the second floor. I know that the router is one of the main causes of speed problems, but in my opinion a 24 hour outage is unacceptable and when I ran a speed test next to the router it was only about 40. So, plug in my new Netgear modem. My new speed tests on the 3rd floor (near the router about 70-80 down and about 15 up. On the second floor where I work (just ran a speed test while writing this review / see attached photos) , I get 63.68 down and 10.26 up, which is a HUGE improvement over using a Comcast modem Yes, and for you gamers using a direct connection (I connect my Xbox One directly to LAN port 1) , when I ran a speed test despite the Xbox 122 showing Down (which is higher than I pay) to say, that I like it, but there are a few problems. Notes below: Pros: -Very noticeable speed boost from the Comcast modem -Installation went quickly Called Comcast, they gave (if I remember correctly) the modem's MAC address and serial number, and in a few minutes I was ready to go. I'm not sure if this is normal for this modem and I have yet to contact Netgear about this. When I speak passionately; I mean not warm to the touch, I mean borderline that I'm worried about the components inside melting/melting. That's why I'm only giving 4 stars and not 5. I hope this review has been helpful and I will try to answer all your questions. I'm not sure if this is normal for this modem, and I still have to contact Netgear in this regard.
