Suddenly stopped working

Purchased in June. Worked exactly 3 months, then suddenly stopped working. stopped replying Cannot access it from a web browser. I can't ping. The light is on, but no one is home. Don't buy this. The price looks attractive, but pay a little more and get something that really works. Bought from Revain because NO RETAIL STATION sells DSL modems, only cable.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Junk DSL modem. Stopped working after a month.

Very uncomfortable. Despite contacting Netgear support, it hasn't connected for a long time. I ended up just throwing it away (since I threw away the box which was a mistake as you can't return it without the box). Stay away from this poorly designed product.

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose

Died A Year Later - Computers and Accessories

I bought this because the phone company wants $200 for their home modem. I set it up and it got blocked once every 2 days. I hooked it up to a Christmas tree timer and turned it off for 15 minutes a day (at least when the tree timer went off) so it restarted once a day. it worked for 9 months and then not every day. I had to add 45 minutes to the shutdown time to keep it running. Another 3 months and I had to borrow a DSL from a friend to order an ActionTec DSL modem that lasted 3 years with no

died 6 hours later at Computers & Accessories

I bought this NETGEAR DM111P ADSL2+ Ethernet DSL Modem to work with a new NETGEAR router (WNDR3700). NETGEAR support helped me set it up and everything worked fine for about 6 hours. I sent the modem back to Buy.com for a refund which was processed quickly. I went back to my old SpeedStream 5100 DSL modem and since reinstalling SpeedStream I haven't had any problems.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Not as thick as other alternatives

Keep it cool with a small fan

These modems get very hot. You should always use a small fan on the modem to prevent deterioration of the electronic components. It is difficult to diagnose when a modem is failing.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Older model

Buy this if you buy a new device every six months

I bought this product and it has worked great for six months with no issues that a quick reset couldn't fix. Less than six months later, the modem hung and wouldn't work. I restarted the device and fixed the error but to no avail. After several hours of frustration, the wonderful folks at Netgear considered the modem a lost cause. I contacted Buy.com to return the defective unit and was told the warranty is only 45 days. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I should have known better with all the negative…

Defective Item - Networking Products

After spending a total of over 5 hours over 3 days on the phone with various Netgear tech support people trying to get this modem to connect my computer to the network they finally gave up on. and offered to send it back to me as it was obviously defective (which I did and hopefully [.] will give me credit for soon). One of the Netgear support reps I spoke to also told me that they had this issue with "quite a lot" of these models, so fingers crossed if you buy one. The only reason I gave it 2…
