Review on Yokohama Ice Guard IG55 205/60 R16 96T winter by Aneta Ogrodniczek ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A practical product, nothing to complain about.

I recently bought this rubber in the size 195 \ 60 R15 on the Polo liftback, I’ll immediately say that it’s made in 2022, not Japan, the spikes sit in their “nests”, that is, they don’t look like cheap tires, but stick out a little, so the loss of spikes is unlikely in the first two seasons, there is rutting, I didn’t notice aquaplaning, I drove at the speed of a puddle - everything is fine, but there is noise, very intrusive on smooth asphalt on the front axle, oddly enough silence behind, it’s clear that on ice or snow the noise will go away , but winters are now usually without snow, before that there was Velcro silence. I will also add that the rubber is soft, there are 60 joints in the profile, the pits pass with a bang, you can try the 55 profile, but you will lose in clearance . I thought for a long time to take Nordman 7, but the reviews were so-so and there was Nordman 5 somehow, the rubber was not very good, I pierced the sidewall in a shallow hole - the tire was ejected.

Pros
  • Tenacious and stable on a dry road below 0 degrees, you can drive fast like on a summer one, the spikes sit firmly and are hidden, rows normally on ice and slows down better than a Velcro, soft.
Cons
  • Rutting, noise is present even with noisy arches.
