Like a light much brighter than the fluorescent light it replaces. I hate mechanical design. The first ceiling light I've ever seen that doesn't have a bracket to attach it to an electrical box. Instead, 4 screws with dowels are used for attachment. There are no assembly instructions and there is no screw template. I had to create my own template as installation is impossible without it. Since this is a square light fixture and my kitchen is narrow, it was important to set the sides parallel to the walls. This is extremely cumbersome due to the 4 screws and takes a lot of time. If the device were round, this problem would not exist. The bracket I replaced was also square, attached to the back box and was very easy to align. I bought this for the size and shape, smaller or round would mean repainting the ceiling. I now realize that repainting would have been easier than installing and leveling this unit.
