I really wanted to like these side stairs. The mounting brackets and the step itself are durable, and the versatility of step height adjustment makes them attractive. However, the positive aspects stop there. The way the step attaches to the adjustable brackets is not well designed and they use the cheapest screws that "clamp" the step into the adjustable brackets. The two screws on the first side I installed had snapped off and now the step just "fits loosely" in the holes. I don't know how to fix this other than gluing the pieces together. The rounded extrusion ends don't fit properly in the mounting brackets, so I had to hammer and pry the hole to the point where the extrusion ends looked damaged before installing them. In my opinion, the engineers should have used a pipe clamp system to 'clamp' the step rather than relying on a cheap little machine screw that was easy to loosen. Just bad technique. Good solid parts for most of them. Why rely on a crappy screw to hold everything together?
