Poor design,
As another person said, the velcro loop acts as reinforcement for the straps and doesn't interrupt any other function I can see other than grabbing blankets and anything nearby it comes I have to remove the brace to put on a bathrobe, which is excruciating in the middle of the night when nature is calling. Also the box indicates that there is XXL but I could only find XL, I was just bordering on the max of XL so it's too small.
