The bed was easy to assemble. However, keep in mind that the rails are not as high as they appear when you put the mattress on. My grandson fell out of bed several times, but since it was close to the ground, he wasn't hurt. The screws that others had trouble with were easy to tighten using the long side of the included tightening tool. One of the legs had a decent broken/chipped piece. It wasn't too flashy and I didn't have time to find a replacement so I live with that. I counted all the hardware when I read that some people had problems with missing hardware. The boards weren't marked so of course I got the wrong size and had to redo it. Again it took a few hours but I assembled it myself and it wasn't difficult.
