Firstly, this lens is sharp at all focal lengths at f/35-150 with good color rendering. Second, the image stabilization, which Tamron lenses call VC, is rated at five levels, which I haven't tested yet, but they're certainly excellent for my use! Third, the lens focuses less than 18 inches at all focal lengths. Fourth, the build quality is very good. I have no idea what the previous comment was about. "Legs" and lens hood, but attaching the lens hood wasn't a problem (I always use the lens hood) but it has two ports for on/off and is well designed, like most other lenses. I only had the lens with me for 2-1/2 weeks (an early Christmas present from my wife) for prom shots (of the crowd) and Christmas photos with an APSC Canon 70D which gave me a field of view of 56-240. The lens also works with full-frame EF cameras. Final photos were taken at F4 1/125, 150mm ISO 4000 and 35mm ISO 10000. Christmas lights with 35mm 1/60 F8 ISO 3200. Rose/Bee with F8 1/800 ISO 200. All handheld. This lens is more useful than 70-200 or 24-70 for APSC. This is a good complement to 17-50 or 17-55 APSC lenses. A year later I added a full frame EOS-R camera to my kit last April and have yet to buy an RF lens for it. Instead, I chose the Tamron 35-150 F2.8-4 VC for this camera. For all of the reasons above, it's just a great lens. I used it at a wedding this year with very good results. Such a versatile lens compared to other zooms. I also have an old Canon 28-105 F3.5-4.5 which is very good, more like the EOS-R 24-105 F4 kit but not nearly as effective as the 35-150. Now I use a lens. for 35-150 FOV lens with FF EOS-R camera and 56-240 FOV lens with APSC 70D camera.
