Hack finger guard!

Being a Revain customer for who knows how many years, this is my first time feeling the urge to leave a comment. Not to urge anyone to buy this item, but to share with you, both potential buyers and owners, how easy it is to fix this product's flaws. When I first received this mandolin, I was just as disappointed with the finger guard as many other people. It just doesn't work. In addition, due to the unfavorable ergonomics of the angled movement, too many muscles and elbows are required for this work. On the other hand, all blades are razor sharp. So the slicer itself is still a keeper. I've researched the internet and seen people wearing these cut resistant gloves. Yes, they are amazing and protect you. But for fellow minimalists, here's what you need - ****** fork. ****** As fun as it sounds, that's all you need. Simply insert your stainless steel fork into the top of what you want to slice, position the fork's tines parallel to the blade, and start rolling! (As opposed to positioning on the side of the vegetable when using the standard finger guard, you want to insert the fork from the top. Let's say you're slicing a carrot, you should leave the fork where the leafy part of the plant is. I should have should take a photo to make it easier, but oh well.) It's much easier, faster and safer. Tilt the fork gently and you get metal protection from the natural curve of the fork. And it takes a lot less power. I mean, if a 5'3" tall Asian woman weighing 110 pounds can do it, I see no reason why you can't. ***Size doesn't always matter*** Some people mention the size of the Mandolin. I didn't find that a problem. American vegetables are famous for their size. But you can always cut things in half to fit the work area. Especially with vegetables like cabbage and onions, it's slices, strips, or strips anyway. I have none Problems sliced half a medium pumpkin (pictured) *** Mandolin, Spiralizer or Food Processor *** If you want to make something like zucchini noodles this mandolin has been proven to work well, you get straight noodles instead of curly spaghetti what can be great depending on your preference. Plus you can do a lot of other things with this slicer. Chips, thin strips of paper, lasagne sheets, whatever. Either way, spiralizers look a bit silly a us. The food processor is another workhorse in the kitchen. But it doesn't cut veggies as nicely as a mandoline or spiralizer. Matches are generally shorter than matchsticks. *** Waste *** Yes, there is a small cartridge at the end that does not fit in the blade. This is more wasteful than using a knife. But that doesn't bother me too much since I get a lot out of the slicer anyway. You will also encounter the same problem with a food processor.
