You will extend the life of your frying pan by 10x if you follow this simple rule. Also, always wait for the pot to cool completely before washing it. When the pan is subjected to sudden changes in temperature, the metal deforms. Always wash with a soft sponge and never use brushes or washcloths as the surface may be scratched. This also applies to spoons or spatulas, only use non-scratch utensils. I often use a paper towel to wipe down the pan after cooking. It's just another way to reduce wear and tear. =
