This is a basic toy at a reasonable price and it turned out to be more durable than I thought after reading some of the other reviews. As soon as I put him in the cage two of my girls came over to check it out. Even when both pulled down, the line held. (You can see the remains of Kaytee Perfect Chews for rats on the floor - the line for that has been down for several hours). What you get is essentially a set of popsicle sticks and beads on a string, but its vibrant colors give it a fun look that will brighten up your living environment. After the initial study, my rats have continued to play with it occasionally for the past few days. However, it is gentle and definitely intended for small birds and animals. I didn't expect it to last a couple of hours and bought it with that in mind. I wouldn't recommend it for a big bird as they can probably destroy it in minutes. I will update if it breaks. UPDATE (1/26/16): Almost 3 weeks later this toy is intact and has received a lot of attention. The sticks chew as expected but do not disperse.
