They feel nice and look solid. The ceramic absorbs part of the condensate. The cork floor will not scratch the furniture. The cork bottom doesn't quite match the ceramic top perfectly, so you could say it gives it a handcrafted look. One minor thing they overlooked: the wire basket they stack with doesn't have cork or soft padding underneath, so it can scratch furniture fairly easily. I ended up using one of the coasters to set up a coaster pad so it scratches things.
