Revain Basics USB 3.1 Type-C to 4-Port Aluminum Hub Connector Silver C, not 10Gbps as you might think. Due to the stupidity of the organization that names the standards for USB, USB 3.0 is now known as USB 3.1 Gen 1, the maximum bandwidth limit of "up to 5 Gbps" is the earlier 3.0 specification, NOT the "up to 10 Gbps " so many might expect to see USB 3.1. On the plus side, this is advertised like a 4-port LOW POWER hub. Some people may be confused, but weak does NOT mean strong. There's no power adapter included, no external power connector, and nothing to indicate it's anything other than an unpowered device. This means you should expect it to be limited to mice, keyboards and possibly flash drives. . Connecting to a USB-C port means it's accessing around 900mA. This is the maximum amount of current and its ratio between the four terminals. Because the device is connected to one port, unused power is now split between the three ports. However, since each remaining port is full, this can affect the amount of current flowing to the other ports. They give the kids a packet of cereal to share equally - until they stop. Wired keyboards and mice are very low power devices and work great. An external 2 TB bus-powered USB 3.0 spinning drive also worked flawlessly. The aforementioned 3.1 Gen 2 SSD also worked great on its own, with a 2TB counter, keyboard and mouse. Even as an unpowered hub, it handled higher powered devices quite well. But as far as external drives go, one can only guess what will and won't come through this hub. Older bus-powered external drives use more power. Newer 4TB drives might be too hungry for this hub. Just know it happens. The only problem is that this 3.0 hub is sold as a 3.1 hub. THIS IS NOT 3.1. Well it is, but it's also the slower 3.0 version we all remember. I call cheating. If speeds "up to 5Gb/s" are okay, then this is a worthy hub - 4 stars. But if you thought the 3.1 spec meant it was a faster version of 3.1 and not a slower version of 3.1 (3.0 I think) then you might want to look elsewhere.
