Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Optimize Performance with High Volume Internal Oil Pump for GM LS-Series Engines by Ryan Barton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The strong oil pump is very satisfied. Elevator noise is gone!

Tahoe 5.3 installed in 2003 for 170,000. I put this in because my oil pressure drops to zero in the morning if I don't keep the RPM above 2km until the truck warms up. I'm pretty sure the problem was with the old oil pump ring itself and not the old oil pump. The old o-ring wasn't cracked or anything, it was shaped like a cylinder and wrinkled. I've also noticed that my jacks no longer make noise with this new oil pump. My truck is 4WD so I did this without removing the oil pan. The included green o-ring should have worked and that's what the manual asks for, but it's very difficult to reattach the green o-ring oil pickup tube if you leave the sump on. I got a Felpro o-ring from Autozone. If you're going to do this without removing the oil pan, either use a full Felpro gasket kit that includes this o-ring and other gaskets, or get a Felpro o-ring to save a bit of effort. I noticed that the Felpro o-ring was slightly larger than the other black o-ring that comes with this oil pump kit, so I wouldn't recommend using it as a replacement unless the instructions say something else out or a black o-ring is needed to ring first.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Good but not great
