Good product. for oil pumps

Gives volume! Works as it should. The pressure seems a bit high but a quick reply from the technical department assured me it was normal. Remove the pan! Get the job done right. The extra effort is worth it. Melling has top-notch suggestions, but he followed the instructions in the Chilton manual - fill the pump with oil before installing it - and it fills up right away.

2004 speedometer 5.3 lifter lifter

I had oil pressure between 15 and 20 at idle and a maximum pressure of 35 when driving. The elevators rattled and three stores recommended a lifter job for about $1,500. I replaced the o-ring 6 months ago and the pressure was still low and the oil change showed deposits. I have always used Mobile 1. The pressure test showed no leaks through the cylinder head gasket. This pump solved my problems. The pressure is now 40 at idle and 50/55 while driving. The rattling of the lift is completely gone…

Excellent oil pressure improvement

Very happy with it. My standard oil pump had a defective high-pressure bypass valve. I replaced it with this one. As expected, the oil pressure has improved. Hot idle 49 psi. The oil pressure at the top of the red line reaches approximately 110 psi. Stay away from cheap or flimsy filters as they can burst. It would be a good idea to do this job with an oil cooler check plate gasket. An older one may be prone to leaking due to the added pressure. I have no trouble vacuuming the sump dry.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Brought life back to my Chevrolet 6.0L!

I have always trusted Melling parts, I have replaced many pumps and this brand has never let me down. My 06 Silverado was serviced, new timing belt and water pump. The original pump worked fine until I reassembled and started it and the oil pressure kept dropping to 20 and then 10 again. I knew it was the pump. Bought this one, high volume which is great for high mileage engines like mine (175k) now it's back on the road keeping the pressure at 70 and full of life! Highly recommended and the…

Exceeds Expectations

I've owned a Chevy for years and have never had one with oil pressure over 40. My 2005 Silverado 5.3 had a leak around the o-ring and the oil pump gear was loose. When the truck was cold, I lost pressure and the engine started knocking. It took about 20 minutes of continuous driving for the oil pressure to get high enough for the warning light not to come on. I shut down that heavy duty pump and switched to synthetic oil. Now it idles at 40 when warm and runs at 60. When still cold and running…

Good pump for the price

oil pump with excellent price-performance ratio. I was lucky enough to pick up a tick early enough. My oil pressure sensor was shorted, so I didn't notice any loss of pressure, just a knock at low rpm. I checked the pressure manually, at idle it was about zero. Immediately sent to have this pump installed and brought back to full pressure. Still drove 180,000 miles on 5w30 and this pump keeps 30psi hot at idle. It pumps 40psi at high speeds and there is no indication that the lack of pressure…

The strong oil pump is very satisfied. Elevator noise is gone!

Tahoe 5.3 installed in 2003 for 170,000. I put this in because my oil pressure drops to zero in the morning if I don't keep the RPM above 2km until the truck warms up. I'm pretty sure the problem was with the old oil pump ring itself and not the old oil pump. The old o-ring wasn't cracked or anything, it was shaped like a cylinder and wrinkled. I've also noticed that my jacks no longer make noise with this new oil pump. My truck is 4WD so I did this without removing the oil pan. The included…
