Review on FoodSaver FSFRBZ0316 000 1 Gallon Vacuum Zipper Storage & Organization by Jamie Smith

How to fix leaky FoodSaver ziplock bags.

I'm new to zip bags with the usually great FS system, but I've had a couple of FS zip bags that broke after a use or two. To find leaks, I filled the bags with air, sealed them tightly, and submerged them under water. Air flowed out of one immediately, and out of the other it flowed with considerable pressure. The leaks were in the same place on both bags; located at the bottom of the check valve. I then dried the bags and sealed the leaks with aluminum HVAC tape. I retested the bags by filling them with dry cotton paper towels and then vacuuming them. A package with a tighter original closure will work. The bag with more leakage needed more tape around the valve but now it seems to be holding. This is easily fixed in the future by attaching four small pieces of HVAC tape to completely cover the edges of the valve and then pulling the vacuum. (I apply the tape with some pressure and rub it into a plastic bag to keep it in place.)
