Very good grinder!

I have to agree with most other reviewers that this is a very good shredder. I bought it because it has 4 hours of continuous use. I have a lot of old documents to shred and was thankful that our old shredder that was overheating every 10 minutes finally broke because that alone made shredding painfully slow, tedious and frustrating. (especially compared to the commercial paper shredders I used at work). I just destroyed a big box of old bills and junk mail. The shredder worked for about an hour and a half and rarely shut down for more than a few seconds. The grinding speed isn't very high, but it's not very noticeable because you have time to prepare the next piece for cutting, so the process is very smooth. It processed most junk mail envelopes without even opening them, which is nice. Credit cards were also no problem for him. I didn't have a CD/DVD to try, but I had a heavy plastic laminated piece that I tried in this slot and it worked fine too. As others have pointed out, this seems to be creating quite a mess. It has a large trash can with lots of rough edges, making it difficult to empty without getting soiled with scraps of paper. I quickly found that the best way to empty was to use a 30 gallon plastic bag so the trash can fits in the bag's neck and minimizes spillage. Also, the wheels are fixed and don't swivel, so it only rolls from side to side. They also seem quite fragile so I have some concerns about durability. The touch panel is very sensitive, I accidentally touched the power icon several times and the device turned off. I took a star off my rating because of these little things, but none of that will stop me from buying it again. It's a little pricey just to handle "garbage" but runs smoothly and cuts into very small pieces. It has a long shelf life and makes the process as painless as possible, which means I'll be using it more often. If it saves me from having my personal information stolen by thieves, it's worth every penny. And I think that's the main thing!

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
