ok I have a router #1 in 2016 – Asus RT-AC88U. Then why did I buy it? I had one with 3TB drives and an Asus router to increase my WiFi speed and help me better control what my kids do online. After Asus blocked for the fourth time and provided slower internet than I could count, I desperately ordered another Airport Extreme and installed it as soon as it arrived. I had no performance or connectivity issues. Yes, I lose the ability to customize all features and I lose ultra-fast wireless speeds, but I choose AirPort Extreme and it offers unmatched reliability every time.
