Yes, it's thin, but it stays on.

So this chain is very thin. But it's really cute and shiny and I've been wearing it every day for about a week now (I take it off to shower or exercise) and no skin irritation or anything. If you have nimble kids who can pull on it I'd go with the thicker one, but if not I think it's great for the price.
