They are perfect for 95% of off-road riding. Trees and hills can get you losing connection about 200 meters away, and there's an unsatisfying hiss when the head connects separately, but it happens. Playing music in the background is fine, but the snippet for incoming voices is a little late, so you might miss the context of a conversation starting. "Hello Dave." resolves this before the conversation continues while the music cuts out. We had a few issues fitting helmet mounts to 3 different brands of motocross helmets. One brand had to stretch some foam glued to the fiberglass to install properly, fairly easy fix. Buy a duo set, share the cost! Its worth it!
