I bought these because we were traveling to England and my wife comes equipped with hair styling accessories. When we got to the hotel, these went right into the wall, the USB worked perfectly to charge our phones. However, when she plugged in her hair drying hair curler thing (I honestly don't know what it's called), she immediately turned it off because the motor started running super fast and it scared her. This surprise was followed by the unit getting super hot. I'm pretty sure it would have melted or caught fire, had she not turned it off. We had to find a store that sold a similar hair styling wand, which is useless now that we're back home. I don't know if there is a different model that would have stepped down the watts or volts or whatever, but this was almost a complete fire hazard. I don't know what the right product would be called but this did work fine for the USB port (although the hotel already had those).
