Faulty USB 3 hub in USB hubs

Purchased on September 14, 2015. About 5 years have passed. I was going to give this product 2 stars but ended up with 3 because I've had it for 5 years now and it still works basically the same as the day I bought it. Not very well, but nothing I had was affected, and for the most part I managed. I skip the superficial complaints. If you buy something with an ugly "Amazon Essentials" logo, you probably don't care. What worries me is that for years, about 6 months after I got this, I had an issue where the hub starts to randomly disconnect and keep reconnecting. trigger sounds and micro-stuttering. This happens about once a day and usually after I return to my computer after leaving it for a few hours, but it's still annoying. Sometimes it helps to disconnect and reconnect the hub. Other times I have to completely restart the computer. And sometimes the problem persists after a reboot. You can call me an experienced user. In fact, I lead a team of software engineers. Trust me when I say that I've tried everything I can to diagnose and fix this problem over the years. There is no fix for this, but the best fix I've found is to manually disable and re-enable the problematic port in the OS. This seems to fix it. If anyone else has this problem and wants to know how to do this easily, I recommend a software called USBDeview. It's free and allows you to see the problematic port if you sort by "Date Created" when the failure occurs. I may have just received a defective product, but I cannot in good faith recommend this product. I'm actually looking for a replacement right now and that's what inspired me to write this review.
