UPDATE: I had to move some decorations and plants around the aquarium. The water is white and cloudy again. Even the white matter remained on the sponge filters. I'll take it off soon and switch to another sand company. I used a 5 pound sack to cover the bottom of the Fluval Flex 9 tank to about 1/2 inch. The sand is coarse and very white. However, it is very dusty. The photo of the empty bag shows how much white dust just covers the inside of the bag. You have to rinse this sand out very well before you put it in the aquarium. A chalky-white foam rose from the sand at the first wash, then floating swimming trunks and muddy water stayed with the wash for a long time. Even with very good rinsing (do not rub the sand, but fold it carefully), the water in my aquarium was slightly cloudy for several days. It's just beginning to clear up. It also nestles up against my marimo balls from below. Wear waterproof gloves when handling sand as it is rough to the touch. But my mysterious snail slides right on the sand. It looks beautiful in the aquarium, but be sure to wash it thoroughly before using it.
