Review on 💾 Zyxel 4-Bay Personal Cloud Storage Server: Remote Access, Media Streaming, Disks not Included [NAS540] by Jeff Hall

Pros: 1) After installing the latest firmware, it works great as a home server and can act as a RAID 5 device 2) Totally tool-less design. Light weight but seems durable. There was an SD slot and a USB 3.0 port. 3) Costs about half the price of other 4-bay NAS devices. Cons: 1) A Gigabit LAN port. 2) NFS file system access needs to be added from the (very short) list of supported applications (this should already be enabled). 3) Dubbing a USB 3.0 port fully uses 100% CPU, which allows you to do little at a time. Ability to move small groups (or individual) files between directories or toggle USB on/off - see below. Other: Bought this NAS a few years ago and put it away shortly after working with original firmware. Almost 2 years ago I updated the firmware and it turned out to be really worse than the original. 2 years relocated. Received it last week and updated the firmware for the third time and now it actually works like a NAS device should. The user interface has been greatly improved, as has the USB -> NAS copy button. It does NOT have the ability to copy a single file (or a group of files) between directories or to a USB stick, although I can do this through Windows 10 using Allway Sync. Using SSH and Linux cp (copy command) is "unimaginable". " slow
