A great option for this money, I definitely recommend it!

I switched to Qnap D4 in the spring of 2022 after 7 years of using Synology ds413j, which already seemed quite slow, and I also wanted to get an external USB 3.0 port for faster data copying from NASA to external hdd. At first I looked at the Asustor AS1004T, which is offered at a very attractive price, but there were doubts that everything in it works as adequately as in Synology and Qnap. In general, devices of the same price level from Qnap and Synology are equivalent in their capabilities…

    Pros
    • A good 4-disk NAS in terms of price / performance ratio from those sold in the 2022 in 2022. The best choice for home (multimedia tasks), as well as a small office. Although the model is 2022, the platform used is sufficiently productive for the basic functions to work normally. These tasks include storing and backing up data on a schedule from client computers, a torrent client, streaming video and music to different devices, and recording video from a webcam. The speed of copying from / to us through a 1 gigabit interface is limited by the maximum bandwidth of the interface (about 100 MB / s). With a torrent client running in the background, the copy speed is certainly lower, but still acceptable (70-90 MB / s). If you want to figure it out, there is a huge selection of all sorts of free applications that will seriously expand the functionality of this box. There are both official ones in the built-in app store, and unofficial ones from user communities. For example, the Transmission torrent client is installed from one of these unofficial app repositories. With the help of applications, you can easily deploy your website or mail server on this box. The device is quiet, hard drives cool well, easy access to them.
    Cons
    • - If you have not dealt with such devices before, and such words as "volume", "raid mode", "access rights" are incomprehensible, then during the first setup you will have to carefully read the instructions. But the help system is very clear and visual, integrated into the server interface. It is also possible to send a request to the support service directly from the help, including in 2022. - Too easy access to the hdd can be a problem. - Long process of rebooting/ating the firmware compared to even the ancient Synology. - The body of the device is entirely made of white plastic. New out of the box, it is certainly beautiful, but it gets dirty over time, you know. It is better to put it in some closed, non-dusty place, for example, in a closet (but not airtight).

The quality exceeds all expectations, I recommend to buy.

I've been using them for a couple of years. Familiarize yourself with all its features and functions. Already there was a death of one disk (has been replaced). And it still works well. Until I was let down. In mine now there are 2 disks for 12Tb (Raid 1) and 2 disks for 10Tb (Raid 1) both HGST (advice, do not buy them. There is no guarantee for them in 2022. I already got it). So it supports big disks. I use it only as a storage for files and backups. Which he encrypts at night and uploads to…

    Pros
    • 1) Low price tag compared to the same Synology . 2) The admin panel is quite nice and convenient 3) Ability to do Raid 1 4) It is possible to add a Hot Spare Disk. 5) There is disk encryption 6) Very flexible allows you to customize informing (Email, SMS .). 7) Supports large drives (12Tb, no longer tested) 8) Able to synchronize files with clouds in all directions. 9) You can make different users with different rights. 10) There is Microsoft Networking, Apple Networking, NFS 11) You can log in from the admin via SSH. (For crontab or scripts) 12) There is a dynamic Amazon service. To access from the Internet…
    Cons
    • 1) HBS does not have built-in SSH Rsync capability. Such rsync is possible only via SSH from the admin . 2) There is no way to expand the memory (all chips are soldered). She's really small. 3) The processor is weak. But for the money to want more strange. 4) Very slow software Qsync (refused to use it).

Everything is fine, I liked the product, I bought it for a reason.

The system is in operation almost without interruption, but this is a short time to check the reliability. I will ate my review after a year of use.

    Pros
    • Pretty good value for money in my opinion. 4 hard drive bays. Functional software for NAS. It is possible to connect the UPS and gently turn off the NAS at his command.
    Cons
    • Low-functional media services software. PhotoStation as a home photo album is inconvenient. Similar to FileStation. Under Plex, especially for video conversion, the power of the device is no longer enough. I will look for alternative media servers.

I am very happy with this purchase, I will advise everyone!

The absence of an x86 processor affected not only the price, it is really cold no matter how you load it, but in terms of responsiveness IMHO it is faster than more expensive models on the Atom, the main thing is to use this device for its intended purpose. Has pros: Interface Noiseless Uninterruptible Support A bunch of additional software Snapshots Price Has cons: Despite docker support, there is little to run, because. images are mainly for x86 architecture, and here arm

Great value for the money, definitely recommended!

You should immediately take into account that it takes 1 disk for the system, and if you pull it out, it will not boot and you will lose all OS data and settings. In general, it is ideal for file storage. But you can work like network storage if you plan to use ssd drives. There is a convenient monitoring and web muzzle and a PC application. I bought another for 18tr. With the current exchange rate, the price is already overpriced.

    Pros
    • Slides for 4 discs. Possibility to make RAID10. There is a lot of software to create a web server, a server file, even a website can be set up on it. A convenient GUI shell and most programs allow you to manage your data. There is an SSD Flash to speed up the NAS. 2 network interfaces.
    Cons
    • If the drive fails, you won't even notice it because there are no indicators on the sled. Only the red light will light up, instead of the red one on the front panel. Noisy if standing next to you. Supports drives up to 8TB. If you plug in 10TB, it won't work.

I was surprised by the quality for the price.

I have been using the storage for 3 years, this is my second storage. The first 2 years later was replaced in the SC under warranty after 3 identical breakdowns, the HDD was turned off in one of the baskets. Now there are 4 disks, 2tb each. On 3x, raid5 is configured, and on the last one, it downloads a torrent. There is also a web camera on the storage with a record of alarm events. The main task is to save a family photo and video album, as well as important working documents. At the moment…

Dissatisfied with this product, bad to use.

Fu fu fu, somehow you can describe the device for 20kr . Completely non-intuitive interface with a bunch of multi-colored buttons. Provided that the RGB LEDs (multi-colored) there is no "classic" indication of disk failure. If the hard drive is dying or dead - you will find out either by the configured notification (for example, I did not check the email itself, it may not work at all) or if you go to the web interface. Just go to the device and look at the light bulbs - a waste of time, the…

    Pros
    • Quiet operation Comparative cost with other manufacturers 4 discs 2 network cards Regular manufacturer support from the firmware Quick Plush interface in the style of sub-android, someone will like it, probably
    Cons
    • Turns on longer than Pentium1, as if a rocket launch into space is being prepared there Ordinary tasks, such as for example a DLNA server, are "complicated" to start. Bunch of useless software There is no indication of the "dying" state of the disk on the device itself If 1 or 2 disks fail in raid10, the software slowly informs about this with a tiny indicator in the web interface There is no possibility to rebuild the raid after replacing a dead disk. The software is not intended for such purposes. etc. etc.

    Reliable Plex solution

I bought this NAS because I wanted a simpler Plex solution, a little easier to use. I use Plex for all my media, so this was my only goal. Before this NAS, I used a PC with a USB connected RAID box to store dee data. When I first opened the box (super well packed btw) my first thought was how solid it felt in my hands, not flimsy at all and like it was built with quality materials. My first upgrade was to install an additional 8GB RAM stick. *Tip: The manual for this NAS says 8GB RAM maximum…

Tried to set it up for three days :-(

NAS arrived with no setup documentation - took a day to log in and then three days to set it up. Hardware seems good and if you're already an administrator QNAP then it's probably a good device, but if you've always used other NAS devices you'll probably have to work a week or two before it can be used for YouTube, but every video belongs to one device and will be useless if you have another device - the UI is filled with apps but you have to install each one to see if it does what you…

Excellent Plex server suitable for devices

I use my QNAP TS-251D to store all my personal files as well as movies, TV shows, music, home videos and photos. I use Plex with an Apple TV and my Roku TV and can stream media from the NAS with no problem. I also use the NAS as a DVR to record live TV with HDHomerun. I can access files from all the computers in my house as well as my iPad and iPhone using QNAP's many iOS apps. I am very happy with this car.

    Pros
    • High marks for support and durability from testers
    Cons
    • Cable is shorter than other options

    The tech support is HORRIBLE!

I bought this product almost a month ago. I still haven't managed to get it to work. I searched their knowledge base and couldn't find anything that could help me. There is no quick start guide or anything I could use to set it up. I contacted support and received instructions for Windows XP. I wrote an answer and am waiting for an update. I work in IT so it's particularly frustrating that the device is so difficult to set up.

    WORST SUPPORT IN THE INDUSTRY

I installed this product and read the 50 page user manual. The manual does NOT mention setting up hard drives, setting up Apple Time Machine and configuring RAID-ZERO. I TOOK THREE HOURS – ON THE PHONE, CHAT AND WEB FORM. DURING THESE 3 HOURS IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CONTACT THE COMPANY. I waited on hold for 40 minutes and then was asked to leave a message and the message box filled up and the line just went offline. I was #1 in the chat queue for 1 HOUR! Inherited from Synology

Started with Synology first because some online reviews said Qnap is much more complicated than Synology. In fact, I've had Synology for quite some time and couldn't figure out many settings. When they contacted Synology Support, they just copied the links from the manual. Qnap technical support is very helpful. human approach. explanation available. Also, the Qnap OS is much easier to understand than Synology, at least for me. I'm glad I switched to Qnap.
