Review on Tire Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 205/55 R16 91 H by Janis Saikovskis ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality, absolutely not expected for such a price.

Went regular for Stepway in the 15th year (205/55/R16). I was even surprised by such an attraction of unprecedented generosity . But I was even more surprised when I skated 15 thousand km per season on it. Amazing balance. In the world of wheels, everything is about compromises. If the rubber is soft, it goes softer, but wears out faster, and the sidewalls are weak. If the rubber is hard, it lasts longer, but it will shake out your whole soul. I won’t say that I tried a lot of all sorts of rubber - well, I looked for a dozen or one and a half marks. Driving around in official cars in the north, the Urals and the Volga region, I usually didn’t look closely at what kind of rubber it was worth. But for my cars I chose tires carefully. I really liked Goodyear once (both summer and winter). But, if there are thoughts of returning to Goodyear winter tires, then about summer tires - now only Continental. Taking into account the fact that the wife sometimes gets behind the wheel - safety is higher than money. Oh, yes, for some reason I could not buy the 5th PremiumContact in the spring. I took him to replace the 6th. Didn't feel much difference. Passed for the season because of the pandemic a little (12 thousand keme), wear has not yet been assessed. But that is another story. In the photo: a car on the 5th PremiumContact on the "roads" of Crimea (Cape Tarkhankut, north of the lighthouse towards the Black Sea). The car is at a 30-degree slope, I went out to see if there was any road behind these stones.

Pros
  • Best summer tire I've seen in 40 years of driving. 1. Handling - 5 points! Braking distance - 5 points! It doesn't matter if the asphalt is dry or wet. 2. Wear resistance and strength! For 5 years I have passed, according to my calculations, 55 thousand km. It was replaced due to the tread depth (it was already less than 1 mm). And what roads you had to drive on - sometimes it's scary to remember! . (see photo). Alloy wheels had to be straightened a couple of times a season. The tires held up. 3. Sufficiently strong sidewalls (for the 55th profile) 4. Oddly enough, it will ride on light off-road. Wet grass, stone impassability of the Crimea, dirt road-washboard - this is within her power. Even surprising with such a tread . 5. Excellent grip on DRY asphalt even at -5.
Cons
  • 1. Do not give you a chance to fly on it onto even the thinnest ice . On your own skin you will feel the expression "like a cow in the ice" (((It even in light frost with a bang. 2. With a low profile - still harsh. A trip through country roads usually turned into an energetic massage procedure. 3. A bit noisier than we'd like. On my Stepanych, when installing the chatter recorder, I disassembled and glued the doors in 3 layers - at a speed of 110 it doesn’t help much . 4. 205 rubber easily tightens into a rut. But this is the trouble of any rubber that is wider than 200 mm.
