Shaker lids seem to have some sort of gap in the layers that allows salt and pepper to seep in, sometimes causing clogs. The salt shaker was particularly difficult at first, but once I put some rice in the shaker it stopped clogging up so much it's probably more of a moisture issue than anything. The finish on the top is also cracking around the holes but it's a good thing there is no rust as the top is plastic not metal.
