We had purchased a different stool from another seller for our 3 year old great granddaughter. It looked cute but was a pain in the butt to assemble and was made with cheap pressboard. She is quite a destructive child and it didn't take her long to break it. So we purchased this one. It is extremely sturdy, and a bonus was that it was easy to assemble. I took an extra step and glued all joints with Elmer's wood glue during assembly. This is made with good, hardwood. So far she hasn't been able to break it, and I feel confident that she'll have this stool for many, many years. Sidenote: great grandpa may or may not have stepped on the old one to do it in permanently. This new one is designed for 250 lbs, which is much more than great grandpa weighs.
