So I have synthetic braids that are very heat resistant. We all know how difficult it is to curl your hair with kanekaleon. But you can't find these colors on any other hair type (My hair is lavender smoke - light purple - and glows in the dark). I can always smooth them out with an iron. But twisting is another story. That's where this hot curling iron comes to the rescue. I haven't been able to create a tight curl yet, but I can create a beautiful wavy effect that's better than nothing. As you can see, the temperature is rising ridiculously. I mean, at some temperatures you wouldn't fry potatoes. I recommend spraying kanekalon hair with water before curling and fixing the curls with some kind of spray, otherwise they will fall and you will lose your curls. As you can see from my photo, my optimal temperature was 350. That was enough to make it wavy without melting my hair. Not to say I wasn't curious. I tried twisting it all the way up and down and this is where some of my hair melted. So I didn't go over 350 but checked at the bottom of the strand. So I sprayed my hair, combed it, took a half inch to one inch section of hair and wrapped it tightly around a stick. I waited 20-30 seconds and then turned it up to get some really nice wavy curls. Some of the features that I liked about this curling iron is the swivel cord that is very easy to work with. The power button is easy to press and within reach of your finger on the side. The temperature gauge is easy to use and read. The arm is articulated so it holds the wand so it won't burn anything you put on it. And it comes with some (not quite) heat-resistant gloves. They are so useful that I use them with my iron too. There is nothing worse than holding hot, ironed hair in your hands. Two things that I think could be improved are the instructions and the website. The instructions pretty much tell you what not to do. I'm not sure I understand what the light means when it's solid or blinking. At first I thought the blinking might mean it's heating up, then a steady glow means it's reached your chosen temperature, but it never blinks for long and I doubt it's heating up that quickly. The packaging says to find tips and tricks on their website, but I've only seen the products and no useful information to use. But other than that, this is a great curling iron whether you have natural or synthetic hair. When my braids are gone I will definitely keep using this!
