It curls my hair and is easy to use.

My wife knew Hot Tools styling irons were a great affordable brand. I was excited to see how this would change the look of my straight, curly hair. So where "I” is written below, my wife writes, not me. • I like the combination of black and gold. • It is very thin and light. • I didn't realize the wand was almost square until I got it. I thought it was rounder than my other hot 1 inch tool. • The stick is longer than I expected. • I have trouble curling my hair, possibly because my hair is…

Much easier to use than a flat iron

I've tried using a flat iron to give my hair a wavy look in the past but never got used to it. This styling stick solved that problem! i won't lie It also took me a while to master this wand. I would recommend anyone using this type of wand for the first time to find a YouTube video and watch how to position the wand properly. This will help you a lot! After watching a few videos I checked it out. I have pretty short hair with a twist. This wand handled the longer fronts quite well, but where…

This curling iron is great for long hair for tighter curls.

If you want fairly tight spiral curls, this Black Gold Ribbon Professional Styling Iron from HOT TOOLS is for you. and wondered if it would really work on my long, thick, wavy hair. As it turns out, my hair is perfect for this as it's a really long wand - which I really need for this type of hairstyling. how to properly use this thing because it's not entirely intuitive. It took me a while to get used to it, but once I got used to it, I felt better. You'll definitely want to use the supplied…

Fun and unique curls!

At first glance, when I took it out of the box, I thought it was strange. The shaft of this curling iron is flat-oval and not round-cylindrical as usual. I plugged it in, tried it and fell in love with the curls I got! They look like gathered curls, unique and fun! The second thing I noticed is that it's very lightweight and easy to move around and style. I also like that the cord on the underside can be turned completely (which is particularly important with curlers), which makes styling even…

Definitely Ribbon Maker

Works very well compared to all the other curling irons we have used. Heats up quickly and evenly. It also appears to be a higher quality product than anything we have had and used before - seems like it will last a long time. It's getting really hot, so hot in fact I'd recommend you start lower on the dial and see how your hair reacts. Find a rhythm and follow it! Also, this is a band maker, not a traditional curling iron. It's something we didn't realize when we had the opportunity to get it.

Fun but takes practice

Before using it I had to watch a YouTube video explaining how to use one of these and even then it took some practice but was halfway in my head I'm a pro, and now I don't have to worry about it (actually, I was a little afraid of it and left it in the box for a while). I quickly learned that the key is to point the tip of the curling iron down and start coiling midway up the head and working to the ends of the hair, which is the opposite of what you're used to , if you've ever only used a…

Pros
  • Great choice
Cons
  • Nothing here

I thought all curling irons are the same but this one is definitely the best. For my 4c ethnic style hair, this flat iron glides through my hair and actually helps my hair to keep its curls. This barrel size is perfect for my shoulder length hair and is light and comfortable in the hand. In short, this is a winner. BARREL: This is NOT a round barrel, but a rounded rectangular shape. Round on the outside, flat on the inside. I actually wanted a round barrel and when I got it I felt cheated. But…

For use on kanekalon hair

So I have synthetic braids that are very heat resistant. We all know how difficult it is to curl your hair with kanekaleon. But you can't find these colors on any other hair type (My hair is lavender smoke - light purple - and glows in the dark). I can always smooth them out with an iron. But twisting is another story. That's where this hot curling iron comes to the rescue. I haven't been able to create a tight curl yet, but I can create a beautiful wavy effect that's better than nothing. As…

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

I like this styling iron but it is very light so be careful it doesn't tip/fall/fly off the work area. I also appreciate styling tips (for us newbies). Wand user) to tilt the handle up. It really makes it easier to wrap the hair onto the wand. You will definitely need the included heat-resistant glove. My hand/fingers hit the iron a few times but didn't get burned because I was wearing a glove. This curling iron is not cylindrical like the others. It has the shape of a flattened cylinder. My…
