I bought a size '8' for my 8 year old who just reached size 8 and an XL '14-16' for my 12 year old who just reached size XL. Both shirts fit around the waist and are a far cry from a size 8 or 14/16. When my boys raise their hands, you can see their navels. which completely defeats the purpose of wearing a sun shirt. Chest, neck and arms are fine. but the shirts are not long at all. In fact, I had my 8 year old try on a 12 year old boy's 14-16 shirt and it fit like his 8 should fit. moral of the story? Twice as much. Does your child wear 8? I recommend size 14. Wears 14? buy adult. I will have to return both of my purchases. I gave 2 stars because of this issue.
